What is Civil Engineering?

The practice of Civil Engineering has been instrumental in the build of all the essential structures you see around you every day. From bridges and buildings to hospitals and transport links to power supplies and stadiums, Civil Engineers have designed and managed each project.

The field of Civil Engineering emerged, as we know it today, in the 18th century.  But it has been practised throughout history from the works carried out by stonemasons, carpenters and master builders.

A knowledge of many principles is required including geography, geology, mathematics and physics and the advancements in each.
